A superb venue for entertaining

We've revamped some of the rooms at Pavilions of Harrogate which means that we've new facilities at the Great Yorkshire Show for Corporate Hospitality. There's no better place to take your clients, or your staff, than the Great Yorkshire Show. A great day out, fantastic food, brilliant location and warm Yorkshire welcome. What more do you want?

Summer's Here!

This week the weather has been fabulous and it really makes the Showground look completely different - almost like the Show is just round the corner. You can see the countdown to the Show on our website now, just in case you needed reminding how soon it will come along.

We've been taking advantage of the sunshine; the guys have been cutting the grass this week - a real smell for summer and the marketing team have been shooting the next episode in our Young Handlers series. Watch out for the latest instalment next week.

Marketing Activity commences in style!

If you've been near the Showground recently you can't help but see our amazing rosette - we're very proud of the Great Yorkshire Show so we thought we'd share the dates with everyone who visits the Showground. Whilst you're here, why not pop into Fodder to buy your Great Yorkshire Show tickets - they'll be selling them from 1st April.

Christine Walkden, from The One Show, at the Great Yorkshire

We're really pleased that Christine Walkden from BBC's The One Show has accepted our invitation to visit the Great Yorkshire Show and take part in our Garden Show Questions and Answers Sessions. Christine will be at the Show on Wednesday 14th July - pop along and ask her for advice about your garden.

Remember though you don't need to specify which day you're buying your ticket for when you make your purchase - a ticket is valid for any one day!

Young Handler's Story

After the success of following a lamb as she was prepared to be shown at the 2009 Great Yorkshire Show, this year we're following a competitor from our Young Handler's Livestock Classes. What makes a 17-year old choose to show cattle? Follow our video story as we film Frances as she gets ready for the 2010 Great Yorkshire Show.

Don't forget - tickets go on sale on Monday 1st March - so what's stopping you from ordering early?

NEW Garden Show!

The Great Yorkshire Show Flower Show is seeped in history and there is a natural connection between agriculture and horticulture. Our visitors have been telling us they want more - so we're putting plans in place to present a Garden Show this year! More than just flowers, this will cover vegetables, practical tips for your garden and present you with ideas that you can implement at home.

Rosemary Shrager to headline in the Game Cookery Theatre

We're delighted that Rosemary Shrager (from The Alan Titchmarsh Show and Ladette to Lady) has agreed to join the team in the Game Cookery Theatre on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th July. Rosemary was a great hit last year - be sure to get to the theatre early to be sure of a seat.

We've a great team of chefs in the Game Cookery Theatre - all of whom are being co-ordinated by Wild Cook, Stephanie Moon. Watch this space for more updates on who'll be cooking what in the Country Pursuits area of the show - home of the Game Cookery Theatre.

Great Days Out Fair - Bolton

It may only be February but things are hotting up in the Great Yorkshire Show office!
Some of the team are getting ready to go to the Great Days Out Fair in Bolton (13th February) to promote the 2010 Great Yorkshire Show to groups and coach companies as part of our mission to encourage visitors to share transport to the event.
If you're heading to the event, do pop by the Great Yorkshire Show stand and say hi to Janet and Sally - they'll be sporting the new Great Yorkshire Show fleeces that just arrived this morming!

Sponsor Success

The sun is shining over here in Harrogate and finally all the snow has gone. We've been working hard to pull together the various elements of the Show and are delighted to have signed up some sponsors of note, from the national - Sainsbury's - through to the local, McCormicks Solicitors. We're working with the sponsors to deliver our visitors a great day out.

Freestyle Motorcross at GYS!

The Main Ring attraction at the Great Yorkshire Show is the highlight of the day for many of our visitors and this year's display promises to be a high adrenalin show stopper! The Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motorcross team will be performing twice a day - jumping over tractors and trailers on Motorcross bikes.

You can book seats in the Grandstand when you book your tickets to the show - and this year I really do think they'll be worth having.

Fashion Show taking Form for Show

We've been viewing collections from a number of Yorkshire Designers with the aim of creating a stunning catwalk show at the Great Yorkshire Show this year. It's hard to focus on summer wear when we're togged up in jumpers and cardigans! We've some amazing launches on the catwalk - watch out for Fiona Greene who will be launching her exclusive collection at the Great Yorkshire, and for Hope & Glory - a range of eco-couture.

It's more than just cows at the Great Yorkshire Show!

Showground Snow

It's hard to believe that the Great Yorkshire Showground will play host to around 130,000 visitors in around 7 months time. It currently looks very serene and is an idyllic winter wonderland. The Showground is completely covered in snow and the Main Ring has been transformed from a green carpet to a snow covered oval. It is beautiful - if only we had skis to get around it!
